Youth At Risk
Grace attends a Youth Off the Streets high school at Redfern, Sydney. She started yoga because she was looking for something to support her general well being, particularly her mental health. From yoga, Grace feels better able to manage stress and feels a since of clarity.
People Affected by Mental Health Challenges
Twenty five years ago Dan was diagnosed with depression, social phobia and panic disorder. He began to use yoga because he wanted to better his body and mind. Now, Dan uses yoga weekly and feels that the results have exceeded his expectations.
Rosemary has been impacted by domestic violence, trauma and has one child with ADHD and one with severe epilepsy. She turned to yoga to help manage her emotional response to her life challenges. Yoga proved to be a very effective way for her to reduce anxiety and taught her techniques she continues to use.
Sissi was a victim of partner violence and diagnosed with severe post traumatic stress. She found herself in a yoga class with a highly experienced teacher who was attentive to each particpants different goals and health needs. Through the work she did with this teacher, Sissi learnt how to manage her breath in order to reduce her panic attacks.
Ryan is army veteran has served two tours of duty in Afghanistan. Ryan was diagnosed with PTSD and started yoga to manage his symptoms. Ryan enjoys yoga so much that he has included his mates with yoga in order to help them with their PTSD. He says they all have beneficial results.
Shane has Down syndrome, which prevented him from participating several different activities. Yoga became an activity that he could easily be apart of. Shane has now fallen in love with yoga and uses it as a great way to build his self confidence.
Wendy wanted to do yoga to help with stress and anxiety but could not afford to pay for yoga classes. With our free classes, we were able to provide Wendy with high quality yoga classes. Wendy is a regular participant in the
