Primary yoga program with a social impact - Give a class by taking a class

Primary Health Care are looking after the wellbeing of their employees - and of people less fortunate. The yoga program offers a unique combination of yoga, mindfulness and meditation with a social impact. One corporate program at Primary also funds a yoga and wellbeing program for vulnerable people experiencing disadvantage and mental illness. Everybody benefits.

Primary Heath Care have chosen to support a yoga program for disadvantaged people recovering from or experiencing mental illness that The Yoga Foundation runs at Redfern Community Mental Health Centre. This weekly class attracts a diverse range of people with a range of mood disorders and mental health challenges- depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, intellectual disabilities - who greatly benefit from an inclusive class designed just for them.

The 2017 Primary yoga program

When/Duration: Two classes a week for 12 weeks starting on 27 July. Classes are on Thursdays at 5.30-6.30 pm and Fridays at 12.30-1.30 pm.

What: The free yoga classes are suitable for all and have a different focus every 2-3 weeks: Reverse the effects of sitting; Counter stress; Sleep better;  Meditation; Mindfulness; Strengthen focus. For a guide on the content of the yoga classes click here. Please bring your own yoga mat. The yoga teacher will have 2-3 mats for people who forget or don't have their own.

Where: Classes are in the HR Training Room, Level 6.

Booking: Classes are free to Primary employees and you can come to one class or all 24! Places are limited to 20 people per class so you need to book a place.

You can sign up for the entire series or register for individual classes week by week. If you cannot make a class please go back into the booking system and cancel so the place is freed up for someone else. .
