Program feedback from women affected by domestic violence
/March 2021 Yoga Programs Update
This month we received some wonderful feedback from the first of two programs we are running for women affected by domestic violence.
"I loved your knowledge and experience as a psychologist and yoga teacher".
"I enjoyed the incidental conversation."
"I love yoga."
"I enjoyed the stretching. It made me feel energised and relaxed".
"I enjoyed the self love each week."
All the participants of the yoga program have left violent relationships and are rebuilding their lives. The Yoga Foundation’s aim is to meet women where they are at, on their terms, and teach evidence-based strategies and trauma-informed practices to support their mental health and emotional and psychological recovery. Hearing their feedback is important to ensure we are tailoring our programs to their needs. Our programs have many reported benefits: a respectful, safe environment is created so the women can relax, build trust, connect and develop their inner awareness.
At The Yoga Foundation, we are extremely fortunate to support our clients with their recovery and healing journeys through our yoga classes. We wish to extend a special thank you to Natalie Haider and to Samantha Bijok for their sensitive and intelligent teaching of these important programs.
Celebrating International Women’s Day 2021
The Yoga Foundation celebrated International Women’s Day on 8 March. Our teachers, Board members and clients got involved by sharing pictures on Facebook and Instagram with their hands up showing they #choosetochallenge the status quo for women.
NSW Aboriginal Woman of The Year, the poet Kirli Saunders, graciously gave us a special recording to share with our supporters, and we shared stories of the amazing teachers, clients and program participants on our social media channels.
We ran a special International Women’s Day online event for the Sage Foundation. Our client rep from Youth Off The Streets, Sissi (a TYF beneficiary and supporter), and The Yoga Foundation’s CEO, Jessica Hobson, presented on the benefits of yoga for at-risk youth. After the presentation, Louise Eddy taught a mindful yoga session for the participants which was really appreciated.
New programs starting in March 2021
