Learn about The Yoga Foundation's 10 New Programs in 2021
/January 2021 yoga programs
We have hit the ground running and are excited about all the programs planned for 2021. We are delivering 10 new programs in the first quarter of this year, supporting new groups of vulnerable people in Sydney.
In January we continued to run some of our most of our regular, long term programs including St Vincent’s Psychiatric inpatient’s yoga program and Mission Australia’s yoga classes. In addition, a new program at the Prevention & Recovery Centre (PARC) got started. Sadly, COVID-19 restrictions continue to impact the delivery of some programs such as St Vincent’s outpatient program, but we are hopeful we will be able to run the programs at full capacity again soon.
February 2021 yoga programs
We will begin some brand new programs in February, supported by our generous program sponsors:
The Benevolent Society specialist DV unit program – an 8-week program for women affected by domestic violence.
Banksia Program – two yoga programs at a brand new centre for women affected by domestic violence.
Connect to Self, Connect to Country Project – three new yoga programs supporting Aboriginal women. This is part of our 12-month Connect to Self, Connect to Country Project funded by a grant from Lululemon.
Men’s Mental Health - we have started a new program, at the request of some men we worked with from 2015-2019. They missed yoga so much we have restarted a specific men’s group to support significant mental health challenges.
We will deliver our 17th program for Youth Off The Streets specialised high schools and our 9th at The Bowen College, Maroubra. Working with these young people is so rewarding!
Upcoming at-risk youth yoga programs
In April 2021, we will run our first yoga retreat for teen girls affected by trauma and homelessness. We look forward to sharing more detail on this soon. In the second quarter of 2021, we are planning yoga programs for Aboriginal children and teens.
If you are interested in sponsoring an at-risk youth yoga program or retreat please contact our General Manager, Jessica Hobson, or donate through our website.
